What the grader checks

Found on Google

Whether Google is allowed to list the page at all, your title and description (the headline and summary people see in results), a clear main headline, enough real text to rank, a sitemap, a preferred address, image descriptions, and the structured data that tells Google and AI assistants your business details.

Works on a phone

Whether the page fits a phone screen, how heavy its code is, and, using Google's own PageSpeed test, how long the main content takes to appear on a mid-range phone. Google ranks the phone version of your site, and most local customers find you on one.

Wins the visitor

A secure https connection (without it browsers say "Not secure"), a tap-to-call number or other way to reach you, a proper preview when your link is shared, a tab icon, and a copyright year that does not make the business look closed.

How the score works

Each check is marked as passed, could be better, or needs fixing, and weighted by how much it affects a real business. Being hidden from Google, a site that does not fit a phone, or a missing secure connection costs far more than a missing tab icon. A score of 85 or more means the basics are in good shape. Under 65 usually means something serious is costing you customers.

The grader reads your page the way a search engine first does: the code your server sends, before any scripts run. If your content only appears after JavaScript loads, it will say so, because many crawlers and AI assistants never see that content.

Questions

Is the website grader really free?

Yes. There is no sign-up and no email required, and you can check as many of your own sites as you like. We do not store the addresses people check.

Why is my score different from other SEO tools?

Every tool weighs things differently. This one is built around what matters to a small local business: being listed on Google, working on a phone, and making it easy for a customer to get in touch. It deliberately ignores technical details that rarely change how many customers find you.

Does it check my whole site?

It checks the page you enter, usually your homepage, plus your site-wide robots.txt and sitemap. Your other pages may score differently, so it is worth running your most important service pages too.

My site scored well. Why am I still not showing up on Google?

A sound website is the foundation, not the whole building. Ranking also depends on your Google Business Profile, reviews, how long the site has existed, and how many other sites link to you. A new site can take weeks to be picked up; submitting it in Google Search Console speeds that up.

Can you fix the problems for me?

If you would rather start fresh, SimplePath builds a new site from a plain description of your business and keeps helping you get found on Google afterwards. You can also ask us to design a free concept first.
